Ivy

I didn't play sports as a kid. My parents always tried to get me involved...but I just never could muster up the interest. Example: I was kicked out of ballet class when I was 5 because I was goofing off too much. Instead I ended up falling head over heals in love with music. The first time I heard the Phantom of the Opera it was over. I spent most of my elementary, middle school and high school years hanging out in the band room.

BUT even though I never really understood the attraction to sports I could see just how important it was to Ivy when we met for her session back in May. Our session was intended to focus on Ivy and her soccer uniform...but I was just drawn to how Ivy and her father connected over soccer! She thrived in his encouragement. She came to life as he coached her and gave her feedback. They interacted with each other and I saw the anxiety about having her photo's taken melt away as she started to run around and do the familiar warmups with her dad. Soccer is something fun for Ivy, but its something more. Its connection. Its a memory. And its something that she will always have with her father.
