Kerth Family

There is something to be said about a traditional family photograph.  I often feel like right now the trend is towards lifestyle or documentary photography with families.  While I love the vision and intimacy that emerge from those sessions, I still believe that there is value in focusing solely on the relationships between family members. There is something timeless about a family portrait and there is subtle beauty found as the connection between the family members emerge through our session.

When I ask a client what they are looking for 9 times out of 10 they say something to the effect of "I just want ONE good photo where everyone is looking and smiling". I want to honor the timeless classic of the Family Portrait.  The magic happens in between those portraits...the little coy smiles between siblings, the way dad makes mom laugh...even how mom gets a little worried that the kids are getting squirrelly.  Its all beautiful, and in many ways, a right of passage as a family grows.
