One. Get on the calendar
Reach out to get on my calendar during your first trimester. We can talk through all the details of setting up a Maternity Mini Session or get you on the schedule for when your baby arrives!
Three. Preparing your space
The day before, prepare the rooms that you'd like to be photographed in. These rooms should have abundant light. Your bedroom or the baby's nursery are great. Remove any clutter or distractions that you wouldn't want photographed. Set aside any meaningful blankets or outfits you'd like to use.
Two. Your Baby arrives
First of all, take a deep breath - you've just welcomed the sweetest addition to your home! Once you've settled in, reach out to confirm that the baby has arrived and we can schedule our session. This works best within the first two weeks of the baby's arrival.
Four. The day of your session
On the day of your session turn the heat up in your home so it’s nice and comfortable for the baby. You can plan to feed baby 1 to 3 times during our session so their tummy stays full and content!
Five. Preparing yourself
Before our session take a little time to slow down, take a deep breath, and prepare yourself. This might mean taking a couple of extra minutes on your hair or makeup or just sitting and enjoying a cup of tea - whatever you are able to do to take in the moment.
Six. After Our session
Sit back and relax, you have just completed your first family photos with your newborn! You can expect a gallery of images within the next two weeks!

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Soft, neutral tones and simple outfits (without logos or busy patterns) help create a timeless and cohesive look. Coordinating, rather than matching exactly, works best for family shots.
-
I don’t recommend a mini session for a newborn. A newborn session can take anywhere from one to two hours, depending on how baby is holding up. Newborns can be unpredictable, so allow plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing. The best shots often come from relaxed moments, so go with the flow and enjoy the experience.
-
Its best to schedule your session when your baby is typically sleepy and content, often in the morning. A well-rested baby makes for smoother sessions with fewer fussy moments.
-
Our common practice these days is to get the link for download however, I encourage my clients to get prints made of their photos! It feels so good to see your lovely faces up on your walls, doesn’t it? I love to work with babies within the first 14 days. I’ve found that they are the most sleepy and snuggly at that time!
