Walking out of fear || Tacoma Family Photographer
This last year I hosted two days of mini sessions. Part of the proceeds went to the Angel Wings Foundation, we had treats from Sweet Things by EH, custom garland from Melissa Rae and our assistant Samantha came to make silly faces for the kiddos. And the whole event was a raging success!!
I have to be honest here...when I started thinking about and planning to do mini's I was practically paralyzed by fear - what if people don't sign up? What if it rains...what if I forget how to work my camera?? Thankfully I remembered how to work the camera, the kids cooperated, it didn't rain, and the cookies were a huge hit! During the planning of the event Holly (Angel Wings Director) called me and encouraged me to walk into this prayerfully. She reminded me that if he Lord was calling me to pursue mini sessions, then he had something to teach me (even if I failed). I need to trust his calling on my life to allow this business to be an act of worship, and not let my fear get in the way. It is a necessary reminder to not allow myself to walk in fear.
In 2014 there are several things that I am doing to walk OUT of fear in my business. Co-hosting a workshop in May (more to come!!), offering film sessions, legacy albums and scheduling "me time" by planning styled shoots that I get excited about. Its never easy, or fun, to admit that there is fear in my life ~ especially when I want to be seen as a confident mom and photographer. But I also want to be genuine in who I am. And, some of my ventures might flop. But doesn't mean that I failed...it simply means that I took a step of faith and I tried. I'm just fine with that and I'm grateful for the company along the way.
So, without further ado...We met with 12 families and here are some of my favorites from our Christmas Mini Sessions!
