PHOTO JOURNAL
Most treasured moments are never captured by the camera or posted to social media platforms. They are often kept private and cherished collectively by the people experiencing the love. This journal is a small peek into a few treasured moments that I have been lucky enough to capture. It’s an amazing gift to share little bits and pieces of their hearts with you and an honor to have photographed them. I hope you take the time to explore this body of work and find inspiration of your own.

Takenouchi Travels July 2023 | Exploring Beautiful Kauai on Film
Our family trip looked a little different in 2023. We spent four weeks in Hawaii, exploring the Mahaulepu Heritage Trail, Dry Caves, Hanalei Pier, Wailua River, Fern Grotto, Wiamea Canyon, and enjoying local treats, creating cherished memories with family on the beautiful island of Kauai.

Williams Family | Golden Hour Session at Narrows Park in Gig Harbor
Often families will contact me during times of transition. Weddings, newborns, birthdays, graduation, gatherings of all sorts where a family has come from far to be in one place together. Photographers get booked to document these shifts in life, usually joyful, and provide evidence for generations to come that these moments, connections, and places are important to them and should be remembered. That these relationships are worth the effort and time.

Ballion Family | Fort Steilacoom Park Mini Session
Sometimes at sessions I like to shoot “hybrid”, meaning using both my digital and film camera! This sweet, sunny golden session is just that - the blend of analogue and digital photography and I loved every minute of it!

Join the Barazza family for unforgettable outdoor portraits amidst Spanaway Park's natural charm. Let's capture your cherished moments of love and laughter, weaving your unique story into timeless images against the backdrop of nature's beauty.

Clark Family | Sunny Dickman Mill Park Tacoma Waterfront Session
Picking the best time of day for your family photos is really important, but not as important as making the schedule work for your littles for you to have a great session! This session was in the mid-day sun and we had a blast snuggling and getting our toes in the sand at Dickman Mill Park.

Hochrine Family | Chambers Bay Waterfront Golden Hour Family Session
My son Peyton attended Busy Bees Preschool for three years, starting just before the onset of COVID and graduating last year. Our connection with the Hochrine family, formed during those years, holds a special place in my heart as we navigated through challenges together, and even though our older kids have moved on to Kindergarten, our bond remains strong, marked by occasional meet-ups and photo sessions capturing this sweet stage of their lives.

Le Family | Generational Family Session at Narrows Park in Gig Harbor
Teresa reached out to me to schedule a session for her whole family as they were coming from Fort Worth, Texas, and Ohio for a Pacific Northwest family vacation. This is the first time the family have all been together for a long time and they wanted to remember their trip as a family! So we met up at one of my favorite iconic Gig Harbor locations to get a view of the Narrows Bridge and Puget Sound.

Elissa | Downtown Tacoma Glass Museum Senior Photo Session
I’ll admit, I don’t have a huge market for Senior Photography in the Pacific Northwest. Witnessing Elissa's transformation from a little kid to a confident young adult embarking on her chosen path is nothing short of breathtaking. As a photographer, there's a unique satisfaction in capturing the evolution of a person over the years, and Elissa's senior session was a testament to the profound impact photography can have in freezing moments of growth and self-discovery.

Shea Family Newborn | Downtown Tacoma Studio Family Session

Trissler Family | Intimate Seatac Window Light Newborn Session
Newborn sessions capture the tender moments of first-time parents caring for their baby, with Dad seamlessly assisting Mom in feeding and diaper changes. From the adorable chaos of fetching diapers and toys to the watchful presence of family pets, these intimate glimpses into a family's transition into parenthood evoke a sense of excitement and gratitude for being part of preserving these precious memories.

Brian & Jessica | Tacoma Spring Cherry Blossom Engagement Session
In 2023 I took on three weddings, all from friends and past clients who I’d had a relationship with previously. Getting the chance to honor their commitments to each other made these opportunities so much more meaningful to me. I don’t market myself as a wedding photographer, instead I focus on family relationships, but when I get to be included in the larger context of my clients story it feels so much more fulfilling to me. My interaction with clients is no longer just about the wedding day, it becomes more about how I can celebrate them in marriage. I get the opportunity to fit into the larger context of who these individuals are and THAT is what makes me happiest.

Gourley Family | An Elegant Celebration of 50 years in Tacoma
It was a joyous occasion celebrating Barry and Susan's 50th Anniversary, showcasing their enduring commitment surrounded by loved ones in a picturesque backyard setting with delicious food, drinks, and live music. The thoughtful touches, like Susan's preserved dress and wedding photos from 1973, alongside reuniting with their original wedding party, highlighted the rich history and legacy of their marriage, making it a memorable event to document and cherish within the community.
